Obituary for J.C. Meeks

J.C. Meeks, age 89, of Flintville, TN passed away on April 26, 2020 at his residence. He was born in Lincoln County, TN on June 19, 1930. He was a farmer and a member of the Cyruston Church of Christ. He was the ice cream eating champion numerous times.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Eva Jean Barnes Meeks and Isaac Meeks; wife: Willa Dean Brooks Meeks; son: David Meeks; grandson: Scotty Darnell; sisters: Edileen Arnold, Mary Sisk, Jennie Kent and Annie Ruth Hale; and brothers: Bill Meeks, Alvin Meeks, Marion Meeks, Paul Meeks, Charles Meeks, Albert Meeks and Isaac Meeks, Jr.

Mr. Meeks is survived by his daughters: Paulette (Ricky) Darnell and Brenda Harshaw (Johnny Hunter) all of Fayetteville, TN; son: James Meeks of Fayetteville, TN; daughter-in-law: June Meeks of Smyrna, TN; grandchildren: Brad (Shannon) Darnell, Devin Harshaw and Jessica (Wally) Shepardson; step-grandchildren: Andrew Heil and Valerie Moore; great granddaughter: Isabella Shepardson; step-great grandchildren: Maddy Wolfe, Emily Wolfe, Colten Wolfe, Sierra Shepardson, Avi Shepardson, Hannah Moore, Annie Heil and Louisa Moore; sister: Evelyne Hale of Shelbyville, TN; brother: Wesley (Cathy) Meeks of Huntland, TN; and sister-in-law: Sue Sapach.

Graveside Services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in Stewarts Cemetery with Greg Wiser officiating. In accordance with an Executive Order by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, social gatherings are limited to no more than 10 participants. Therefore, extended family and friends who wish to support the family at the service may park in the cemetery and must remain in their cars.
