Mrs. Nell Haston

December 25, 1910  -   November 03, 2007

                 Funeral services for Mrs. Nell Haston, age 96, of Fayetteville, TN; who passed away in NHC Health Care in Columbia, TN on Saturday, November 03, 2007 will be conducted Monday November 05, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mayberry Street Church of Christ with Bro. Cedreck Davis & Bro. William Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Browns Temple Cemetery. Mrs. Haston was a native of Lincoln County; the daughter of the late Issac & Ora Holman Congo. She was a cook at the Lincoln County Hospital & a member of the Mayberry Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert William Haston. Survivors include 2 daughters: Bobbie Roseboro & Joan Massey; 1 son: William Haston all of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister: Ola Bee Waggoner of Cleveland, Ohio; 9 grandchildren & 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, November 4, 2007 from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.   

 

 

Mr. George E. Hastings, Sr.

April 04, 1919  -  November 03, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. George E. Hastings, Sr., age 88, of Petersburg, TN, who passed away Saturday, November 3, 2007 at his residence, will be conducted Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the church formerly the Petersburg funeral home chapel with David Fanning officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Old Orchard Cemetery. Mr. Hastings was a native of Petersburg, son of the late Johnny Cecil & Eula Mae Roberts Hastings, a truck driver, a WWII Army veteran and he was of the Church of Christ faith. Along with his parents, Mr. Hastings was preceded in death by 2 sons: Richard & Tim Hastings. He is survived by his wife: Barbara Hastings of Petersburg, TN; 2 daughters:  Geraldene Pentecost of Ashland City, TN, Debra King of Murfreesboro, TN; 1 son: George E. ‘Eddie’ Hastings, Jr. of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister: Florence Smith of Winchester, TN; 2 brothers: Alf Hastings of Petersburg, TN, Gene Hastings of Lewisburg, TN; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at Petersburg.

 

 

Mrs. Marie Gord

August 27, 1931  -  November 12, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Gord, age 76, of Petersburg, TN, who passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Lincoln Care Center, will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the former Petersburg Chapel with Bill Wood officiating. Burial will be Friday, November 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in Medium Cemetery. Gallant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Gord was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, daughter of the late William Walker & Hortie Scoggins Bradford. She was a member of the Meduim Methodist Church and a seamstress at Petersburg Manufacturing and a former cook at Marvin's Restaurant. She is survived by her husband:  Jimmy Gord of Petersburg, TN; 2 sons:  Ronnie Doss of Delina, TN, Tommy Wayne Gord of Petersburg; 1 sister:  Katherine Crick of Petersburg, TN; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the former Petersburg Chapel.

 

 

Mrs. Mary Louise Durham

August 13, 1920  -  November 12, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Louise Durham, age 87, of Meridianville, AL, who passed away Monday, November 12, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Elder Donald Hackney officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Plevna, AL.  Mrs. Durham was a native of Madison Co., AL, daughter of the late Edgar & Mattie Massey Pogue, a housewife and a member of the New Testament Church in Huntsville, AL. Along with her parents, Mrs. Durham was preceded in death by her husband: Orville Ted Durham. Survivors include 2 sons: David W. Durham of Meridianville, AL, Joe W. Durham of New Market, AL; 1 sister: Ezella McNeese of New Market, AL; 4 brothers: James Pogue, Bill Pogue, Audrey Pogue & Junior Pogue all of Elora, TN; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

 

Mrs. Alice W. Patrick

December 25, 1919  -  November 15, 2007

                    Funeral services for Mrs. Alice W. Patrick, age 87, of Fayetteville, TN who passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Lincoln Care Center, will be conducted Sunday, November 18, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Corley officiating. Burial will follow in the Macedonia Cemetery. Mrs. Patrick was the daughter of Lester & Wealthy Jane Nunmaker Love. She was a housewife. Mrs. Patrick is survived by 2 daughters: Peggy Ann Patrick, & Patsy Ruth Mathis both of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sons: John Roy Patrick of Meridianville, AL & David Michael Patrick of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister: Eliza Jane Atkison of Maryville, TN; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, November 17, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home. 

 

 

Mr. Eddie Dean Smith

October 2, 1950  -  November 18, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Dean Smith, age 57, of Lynchburg, TN, who passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 at the Harton Hospital in Tullahoma, will be conducted Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. graveside in Stewarts Cemetery with Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Smith was a native of Fayetteville, TN, son of the late Madison & Irene Patrick Smith. He was a machine operator for Empire Pencil Company in Shelbyville, TN. Along with his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by 1 brother: Clyde Ray Smith. Mrs. Mary Holder Waid

February 9, 1937  -  November 20, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Waid, age 70, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. graveside in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore with Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Waid was a native of Ardmore, TN, daughter of the late Olie & Ada Brock Brown, a cook and she was of the Church of Christ faith. Survivors include 3 daughters: Margaret ‘Diane’ McClarnon of Elkmont, AL, Nellie Payne of Kelso, TN, Gail Dickey of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sons: Don Holder of Boonshill, TN, Michael Holder of Fayetteville, TN; 14 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

 

Mrs. Maybelle Simmons

November 9, 1914  -  November 23, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Maybelle Simmons, age 93, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Lincoln Care Center, will be conducted Sunday, November 25, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Mrs. Simmons was a native of Collinsville, AL, daughter of the late Cal & Oda Collins. She was a housewife and a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Hugh Dane Simmons; her children: Jean, Jimmy & Dennis, 1 brother and 1 sister. Survivors include 2 brothers: Tood Collins & Cecil ‘Cedar’ Collins; grandchildren: Judy, Zeke, Tim, Maybelline, Sheila, Jody & Otto; numerous great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren and she was loved and cared for by her daughter-in-law: Margaret Thornton. Visitation with the family will be Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

 

Mrs. Rosa May Parks

May 31, 1913  -  November 23, 2007

               Mrs. Rosa May Anderson Parks was born to the late Charlie and Rosie Shull Anderson in Lincoln Co., TN. She departed this life at home on November 23, 2007. She was a life long resident of Lincoln County. She was educated in the Lincoln County School System. She was preceded in death by her husband: Rufus C. Parks; 2 brothers: Floyd & Roy Anderson and 1 sister: Lucille Edmiston and 1 son-in-law: Louis Harper. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Rufus ‘Red’ Parks on October 26, 1940, to this union 8 children were born. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She spent many years as a child care provider, to the public, the family and friends. She was a faithful member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witness. Mrs. Rosa May Parks leaves to cherish her memory, 4 devoted daughters: Mary Margaret Harper and Ann Dora (Darrell) Young both of Fayetteville, TN, Zella Rosa Young of Washington, DC, Francene Gwendlyn Hereford of Nashville, TN; 4 devoted sons: Charles Rufus (Barbara) Parks and Joe Thomas (Shelia) Parks of Fayetteville, TN, Willie B. Parks of Cleveland, OH and Jimmy Warren (Martha) Parks of Nashville, TN; 35 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Mollie Small and Dessie Edmiston both of Fayetteville, TN and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Along time devoted neighbor: Mrs. Ruth Askins and 3 devoted friends: Mattie, Helena and Barbara. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Roderic Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in Mulberry Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 3 until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Ollie F. ( June Bug ) Kennedy, Jr.

September 11, 1930 - November 25, 2007

                 Funeral services for Mr. Ollie  F. (June Bug )  Kennedy Jr. (Everybody called him Jr.), age 77, of Fayetteville, TN who passed away Sunday in the V.A. Hospital in Nashville, Tn will be conducted on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Lincoln Cemetery. Mr. Kennedy was a native of Madison County, AL, the son of the late Ollie F. & Lorena Holder Kennedy, Sr. He was a farmer, a veteran of the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart, he was a devoted Christian of the Baptist faith, he was a basketball star at Riverton ( AL ) High School. He was a Cancer survivor for many years & he was always smiling even if he was having a bad day. Mr. Kennedy was survived by his wife: Shirley Ashby Kennedy of Fayetteville, TN; 2 daughters: Donna Thompson of Fayetteville, TN, & Jeannie Ray & Best Friend Chuck Ray of Winchester, TN; 2 brothers: Marvin Kennedy of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, & Calvin Kennedy of Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren: Glen Sisk, & Corrie Sisk of Winchester, TN, Kylee Wood , Nicki Thompson, & Bradley Thompson all of Fayetteville, TN. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening November 27, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

 

Mr. Charles Thomas Buchanan

March 06, 1943 - November 26, 2007

                 Funeral services for Mr. Charles Thomas Buchanan, age 64, of Huntsville, AL formerly of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Monday November 26, 2007 at the V.A. Hospital in Tuscaloosa, AL will be conducted on Friday, November 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bill Evis officiating. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Buchanan was a native of Lincoln Co, TN, the son the late James Thomas & Alberta Nobles Buchanan. He was a 16 year veteran of the Army. He is survived by 4 sisters: Annie Jean Sugg, Barbara Jean Kibble & husband: Gilbert both of Fayetteville, TN; Brenda Gail Goodrich & husband: Ronnie of Sacramento, CA, Linda Faye Drake & husband: Elbert of Huntsville, AL; 3 brothers: David E. Buchanan & wife: Joyce, William Alvin Buchanan & wife: Fannie both of Fayetteville, TN & George N. Buchanan & wife: Ernestine of Huntsville, AL.                Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Travis, age 58, of Elora, TN, who passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at his residence, will be conducted Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Ostryzcki officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Travis was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of Roberta Cowan Travis of Flintville, TN and the late Alvie Woodrow Travis. He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith. Mr. John Ross

October 18, 2007 - November 29, 2007

                 Mr. John Ross, age 78, of Jenkins Road, Fayetteville, TN.  Mr. Ross  passed away Thursday, November 29, 2007 in the Lincoln Skill Care Center. He was a native of Detroit, MI. and was the son of the late Clarence & Nellie Tomes Ross, Sr. He was a service technician with Bellsouth and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force & U.S. Army.  Mr Ross is survived by 2 grandchildren: Yohnnilee Entriken of Kansas City, Mo. & Matthan Fish of Fayetteville, TN; 1 great-grandchild: Jonaphen Entriken; 1 brother: Clarence Ross of Alan Park, MI. The family will have a private service at a later date. The Gallant Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
