Mrs. Opal Todd

January 18, 1927  -  December 10, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Opal Todd, age 80, of New Market, AL, who passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Huntsville Hospital, will be conducted Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Ostryzcki officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Mrs. Todd was a native of Albertville, AL, daughter of the late Lonnie Merrel & Lillie Mae Coates Camp, and a housewife. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Fayetteville Senior Center. Along with her parents, Mrs. Todd was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Barbara Taylor. Survivors include her husband: Aaron Todd of New Market, AL; 1 daughter: Nancy Cheryl Vandiver of New Market, AL; 2 sons: Ricky Aaron Todd of Huntsville, AL, Michael Wayne & Jenny Todd of New Market, AL; son-in-law: Allen Taylor of Huntland, TN; 1 brother: Wayne Camp of Somerville, AL; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Leona Young

September 21, 1921  -  December 13, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Young, age 86, of Winchester, TN, formerly of Fayetteville, who passed away Thursday, December 13, 2007 at the Southern TN Medical Center, will be conducted Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. Mrs. Young was a native of Leachville, Arkansas, daughter of the late Claude Earl & Nancy Lorena Layton Cagle, a retired store clerk for Quik Market, and a member of the West End Church of Christ. Along with her parents, Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband: L.E. Young and 1 son: Randall Young. Survivors include 2 sons: Dennis Young & wife: Kaye of Winchester, TN, Stephen Young & wife: Judy of Hazel Green, AL; 4 brothers: Joe Cagle of Leachville, Arkansas, George Cagle of Paragould, Arkansas, Cecil Cagle of Blytheville, Arkansas, Edmund Cagle of Brent, AL; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. John R. Marcum

March 17, 1921  -  December 14, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. John Raymond Marcum, age 86, of Petersburg, TN who passed away Friday, December 14, 2007 in the V.A. Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN will be conducted on Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Hames officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, TN. Mr. Marcum was a native of Union Hall, Kentucky the son of the late Price & Bettie Hall Marcum. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army; he was retired from the Redstone Arsenal; a farmer & member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Lester & Virgil Marcum. He is survived by a sister: Catherine Rice of Ohio; several nieces & nephews; & great-nieces & nephews. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, December 15, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. J.D. 'Pete' Cates

November 11, 1928  -  December 16, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. J.D. ‘Pete’ Cates, age 79, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the Lincoln Skill Care Center, will be conducted Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Booneville Cemetery. Mr. Cates was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of the late Tom & Birdie McGee Cates. He was a truck driver for Genesco & Lee Company and a member of the First Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his aunt & uncle: John & Grace McGee. Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Mary Ellen Eslick Cates of Fayetteville, TN; 2 special children: Billie & Larry Swinford; 3 special grandchildren: David & Ashleigh &Angie Swinford and 1 sister-in-law: Aileen George. Mr. Charles 'Trigg & Uncle L' Word

November 12, 1941  -  December 17, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. Charles ‘Trigg & Uncle L’ Word, age 66, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Lincoln Skill Care Center, will be conducted Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Timothy Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery. Mr. Word was a native of Lincoln Co., TN, son of the late Sherman & Beatrice Stone Word. He worked for Walker Die Cast. Survivors include 2 sisters: Barbara Bean & husband: Wilbert of Fayetteville, TN, Louise Jones of Brentwood, TN; 4 brothers: William Word & wife: Juanita of Haselett, Michigan, Clyde Word & wife: Laval of White Lake, Michigan, Tommy Jones, Kenneth Jones both of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister-in-law: Hildred Jones of Fayetteville, TN; a close friend: Wilbert Bean and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Ben Brooks Henderson

February 05, 1928  -  December 21, 2007

               Funeral services for Mr. Ben Brooks Henderson, age 79, of Fayetteville, TN who passed away Friday, December 21, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center will be conducted Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Mr. Henderson was born in Lincoln County, TN; he was the son of the late William & Jennie Mae Brooks Henderson. He was a Brick Mason & a Truck Driver for Ivey Produce. He loved to fish and hunt. He was preceded in death by a son: William Cleveland Henderson. He is survived by his wife: Charetta Cathey Henderson of Fayetteville, TN; 3 daughters: Charlene Henderson, Hazelene Henderson & Cheryl Catrice Simmons all of Fayetteville, TN; 7 sons: Ben R. Henderson of Huntsville, AL, Charles E. Henderson of Tullahoma, TN, Harvey L. Henderson of Fayetteville, TN, James C. Henderson of Huntsville, AL, Ernest M. Henderson of Oklahoma City, OK, Larry D. Henderson of Madison, AL, & Timothy W. Henderson of Atlanta, GA; 1 sister: Annie B. Thompson of Fayetteville, TN, 1 brother: John W. ( J.W. ) Henderson of Toledo, OH. A very close friend: Ardell Haston of Fayetteville, TN. A host of grandchildren, great-children, several nieces, nephews & friends. Mrs. Susie P. Brannon

April 25, 1920  -  December 22, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Susie P. Brannon, age 87, of Elora, TN, who passed away Saturday, December 22, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Plevna, AL. Mrs. Brannon was a native of Jackson Co., AL, daughter of the late William Robert & Ida Brewer Houston, a housewife and a member of the Elora Pentecostal Church. Survivors include 3 daughters: Frances Pope, Annise Arnold & Carolyn Smallwood all of Elora, TN; 4 sons: John Robert Brannon of Estill Springs, TN, Charles Brannon of Flintville, TN, Jimmy Brannon of Elora, TN, Ronnie Brannon of Kelso, TN; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Samuel C.  " Cedar " Collins, Jr.

January 06, 1926  -  December  23,  2007

                 Funeral services for Mr. Samuel C. " Cedar " Collins, Jr., age 81, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the Huntsville Hospital will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Collins was a native of Lincoln County, TN; he was the son of late Samuel & Ole Coe Collins, Sr. He was a retired auto mechanic and a Baptist. He is survived by 3 nieces: Margaret Thornton of Fayetteville, TN, Fledra Farmer of Brentwood, TN, & June Sanders of Huntsville, AL; 2 brothers:  Eugene Tood Collins of Flintville, TN, & Bobby Collins of Carthage, MO. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening December 26, 2007 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Virginia Norman

May 1, 1928  -  December 26, 2007

               Funeral services for Mrs. Virginia Norman, age 79, of Elora, TN, who passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center, will be conducted Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Hipps & Rev. Danny Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Flintville Cemetery. Mrs. Norman was a native of Madison Co., AL, daughter of the late Gordon Lee & Ruth Ward McAnally. She was a housewife and a member of the Stewarts Chapel Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Norman was preceded in death by her husband:  Ernest Ralph Norman, grandson:  Brian Lee Gardner and 1 brother:  Earl McAnally. Survivors include 1 daughter:  Mary Ellen & Danny Lee Gardner of Flintville, TN; 1 son:  Randy Allen & Margene Norman of Fayetteville, TN; 5 grandchildren:  Kevin Wayne Gardner, Randy Allen Norman, Jr., Joey Lee Norman, Anthony Funk, Angelique Thompson; 8 great grandchildren:  Megan Norman, Tiffany Norman, Darren Norman, Dane Norman, Garrett Gardner, Landon Gardner, Skylar Feltman, Logan Feltman; 2 sisters:  Imogene McAnally of Flintville, TN, Marlene Miller of Crete, IL and 1 brother:  James McAnally of Adrian, MI. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Myrtle Nelson

May 9, 1928  -  December 30, 2007

               It is with regret that we announce the death of Mrs. Myrtle Nelson, age 79, of Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Lincoln Medical Center. Mrs. Nelson was a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi, daughter of the late William Polar & Josephine Jenkins Frazier, bookkeeper and co-owner of Tom Nelson Motor Company and a member of the Baptist faith. Along with her parents, Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband: Tom Nelson. Survivors include 3 daughters: Patricia Butner of Ripley, TN, Felicia Botto of Horn Lake, MS, Margurite Blair of Dallas, TX; 1 son: Willard F. ‘Tommy’ Nelson, Jr. of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sisters: Katie Skelton of Wartrace, TN, Neva Palmer of Jackson, MS; 1 brother: Paul Frazier of Waynesboro, MS; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Currently there are no services planned. Gallant Funeral Home is assisting the family. 

 

Mr. Elbert "Ebb" Cashion

August 25, 1917 - December  31, 2007 

                  Funeral  services  for Mr. Elbert " Ebb " Cashion, age 90, of Petersburg, TN, who passed away Monday, December 31, 2007 at his residence will be conducted on Thursday, January 03, 2008 at 10: 00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Ron Fletcher and Larry Hastings officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Orchard Cemetery in Petersburg, TN. Mr. Cashion was a native of Lincoln County, Tennessee he was son of the late Franklin Forrest & Frances Isabell Sanders Cashion. He was a retired carpenter, a farmer, a Veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II,  a member of the American Legion, and a member of Bledsoe " Po-Grab" Church of Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mattie Burns & Verna Hart; 5 brothers: Joe, Mac, Allen, Mitchell, & T. D. Cashion. He is survived by his wife: Lucille Gault Cashion; 2 daughters: Debbie Patrick & husband: Buford and Cheryl Alexander & husband Richard; a son: John Cashion & wife: Kay. 8 grandchildren & 8 great-grandchildren.
