Rev. Ray Plunkett

               Funeral services for Rev. Ray Plunkett, age 83, of Vann Town Road, Flintville, TN, who passed away Monday, January 3, 2005 in Crestwood Medical Center, were conducted Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Martin, Rev. Jason Guthrie and Dr. Noel Walker officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery. Rev. Plunkett was a native of Boaz, AL, son of the late Lundy Jackson Plunkett & the late Josie Thrasher Plunkett, a farmer & minister and a WWII Army veteran. Along with his parents, Rev. Plunkett was preceded in death by 1 son:  Jerry Plunkett; 1 grandson:  Blake Durham & 2 brothers:  Jay & Adell Plunkett. Survivors include his wife:  Lois Plunkett; 1 daughter:  Carol Durham; 1 son:  Bobby Plunkett; 4 grandchildren:  Eddie Plunkett, Leah Plunkett, Marti Crabtree, Wade Durham; 3 sisters:  Jewel Jones, Wilma Quick all of Flintville, TN, Eunice Slayton of Elora, TN; 3 brothers:  Paskel Plunkett of Hazel Green, AL, Kenneth Plunkett of Thatch, AL, & Joe Plunkett of Huntland, TN and 7 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Alvie W. Travis

               Funeral services for Mr. Alvie W. Travis, age 78, of Oliver Smith Road, Flintville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2005 in Crestwood Medical Center, were conducted Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Guthrie and Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial followed in Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Travis was a native of Madison County, AL, son of the late Alvie Floyd Travis & the late Lizzie Allen Stone Travis, an auto body mechanic, an Army Air Force veteran, a member of the Flintville Baptist Church and a member of the Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge #68. Survivors include his wife:  Roberta Travis of Flintville, TN; 2 daughters:  Denise Counts of Winchester, TN, Teresa Morris of Antioch, TN; 2 sons:  Donnie Travis of Elora, TN, Lance Travis of Arab, AL; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Renee Mowery

               Funeral services for Mrs. Renee Mowery, age 29, of Desoto St., Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2005 in Centennial Medical Center, were conducted Saturday, January 15, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Mowery was a native of Huntsville, AL, daughter of James C. & Sue Elrod Rinehart both of Fayetteville, TN, who survive. Along with her parents, she is survived by 1 son:  Christopher Robert Rinehart of Fayetteville, TN; 4 half-brothers:  Danny Ray Rinehart, James C. Rinehart III both of Elora, TN, Donovan Mise, James Kenneth Mise both of Las Vegas, NV; grandparents:  Jean McAlister of Hazel Green, AL, Lewis Elrod of South Pittsburg, TN, Christine Rinehart of Etowah, TN. Visitation with the family was held Saturday from noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Kathleen Jeans Poe

               Funeral services for Mrs. Kathleen Jeans Poe, age 88, of Elkton Pike, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Saturday, January 15, 2005 in Lincoln Care Center, were conducted Monday, January 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. graveside in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. David Wall officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Poe was a native of Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late Oscar Bright Patrick and the late Rosie Land Patrick, a seamstress for Serbin Fashions, and a member of the Marble Plain Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Poe was preceded in death by her husbands:  Robert Melvin Jeans in 1961 and Clyde Poe in 1998. Survivors include 1 son:  Wayne Jeans; 1 step-daughter:  Judith Shelton; 2 sisters:  Odell Patrick, Ozell Warren; 1 brother:  Lawrence Patrick all of Fayetteville, TN; 3 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Elma Mae Swinford

               Funeral services for Mrs. Elma Mae Swinford, age 86, of Lakeview Dr., Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 19, 2005 in Sunbridge Care of Fayetteville, were conducted Friday, January 21, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Suddarth offficiating. Burial followed in Blanche Cemetery. Mrs. Swinford was a native of Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late Isom Newton Hopkins & the late Clara Williamson, a seamstress for Blue Ridge Shirt Factory and a member of the Blanche United Methodist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Swinford was preceded in death by her husband:  Sidney Herman Swinford in 1978; and 1 son:  Richard E. Swinford in 1987. Survivors include 1 grandson:  James R. Swinford; daughter-in-law:  Barbara & Jack Martin of Elkton, TN; 3 nieces & 1 nephew. Visitation with the family was held Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Glenis Pack

               Funeral services for Mrs. Glenis Pack, age 51, of Lincoln Loop, Flintville, TN, who passed away Thursday, January 20, 2005 at her residence, were conducted Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Dr. Joel Carwile & Rev. Lon Ostrzycki officiating. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Pack was a native of Madison County, AL, daughter of the late Douglas Sharp, Sr. & the late Lucille Boles, a store clerk and a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Pack was preceded in death by 1 sister:  Virnell Moorehead. Survivors include her husband:  Anthony Pack; 1 daughter:  Valerie Lynn Pack both of Flintville, TN; 3 sons:  David Eugene pack of Toney, AL, Gene Douglas Pack, Chad Everett Pack both of Fayetteville, TN; 1 grandson:  Austin Nicholas Pack of Fayetteville, TN; 5 sisters:  Jean Thompson of Morgan City, AL, Enith Collins, Edith Mitchell both of Elora, TN, Gladys Vernon, Rachel Kelley both of Huntsville, AL; 2 brothers:  Douglas Sharp, Jr. of Flintville, TN & Larry Sharp of New Port Richey, FL. Visitation with the family was held Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Bill Adkison

               Funeral services for Mr. Bill Adkison, age 51, of Royal Dr., Madison, AL, who passed away Monday, January 24, 2005 at his residence, were conducted Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Corley officiating. Burial followed in Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Adkison was a native of West Virginia, son of Betty Lou Pennington Adkison of Gadsden, AL, who survives & the late Dewey Ward Adkison, an instrumentation engineer, a veteran of the Navy, a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL and he played baseball & basketball for Gadsden State Junior College. Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife:  Patti Lynn Adkison; 1 daughter:  Becky Adkison; 1 grandson:  Rober Brent Adkison all of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sisters:  Joan Robinson of Keller, TX, Debbie Adkison of Villa Rica, GA; 2 brothers:  Tom Adkison of Madison, AL & Don Adkison of Acworth, GA and several nieces & nephews. Visitation with the family was held Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Ruth Edwards

               Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Edwards, age 88, of Limestone Road, Elora, TN, who passed away Friday, January 28, 2005 in Beverly Health Care in Winchester, TN, were conducted Monday, January 31, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Les Fauntleroy officiating. Burial followed in McClure Cemetery. Mrs. Edwards was a native of Jackson County, AL, daughter of the late Henry Cowart & the late Flora Bearden Cowart, a nursery worker and a member of the Donaldson Grove Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband:  John Edwards; 1 daughter:  Katie Phillips; 1 son:  John Buford Edwards; 3 sisters:  Fannie Cowart, Beatrice Cowart, Mary Jane Robertson; 3 brothers:  Erasmus G. Cowart, Charles P. Cowart, Herman H. Cowart. Survivors include 3 daughters:  Carolyn Fanning of Elora, TN, Mayfan Marty of Port Richey, FL, Debby Bullock of Lewisburg, TN; 3 sons:  Hubert Wayne Edwards of Everett, WA, Billy Charles Edward of Athens, AL, Danny Edwards of Elora, TN; 2 sisters:  Grace Edwards of Huntsville, AL, Minnie Barber of North Carolina; 1 brother:  Homer Cowart of Stafford, Arizona; 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Visitation with the family was held Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.
