Mrs. Thelma Dodson Porter

               Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Dodson Porter, age 80, of Patton Hollow Rd., Petersburg, TN, who passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Crestwood Medical Center, were conducted on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Todd Gaskill officiating. Burial followed in Unity Cemetery. Mrs. Porter was a native of Franklin County, TN, daughter of the late W. Floyd Dodson & the late Myrtle Lovella Moore Dodson, a housewife and a member of the Howell Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband:  Rev. Tom Porter in 1995. Survivors include her daughter:  Pat Porter of Howell; 4 sons:  Michael Porter, Wayne Porter, Tim Porter all of Howell, Bobby Porter of Petersburg; 8 grandchildren:  Lisa Wells, David Porter, Jonathan Porter, Nathan Porter, Warren Porter, Mabern Barnes, Katie Barnes, Kenneth Barnes; 1 great grandchild:  Rachel Wells; 1 great-great grandchild:  Hunter Michael Allen; 2 sisters:  Dean Matthews of Burlington, VT, Norma Bowden of Lewisburg, TN and 1 uncle:  J.D. Moore of Winchester, TN. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mrs. Pam Satterfield

               Funeral services for Mrs. Pam Satterfield, age 52, of Joe Quick Rd., New Market, AL, who passed away Sunday, January 4, 2004 in Huntsville Hospital, were conducted Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. James Campbell officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial followed in Taylor Cemetery. Mrs. Satterfield was a native of Madison County, AL, daughter of the late Marvin McKinley Benson and the late Ruth Dale Benson, a retired secretary for the Alabama Extension System after 29 years and a member of the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband:  Gerry Satterfield of New Market, AL; 1 step-daughter:  Jennifer Bartlow of Athens, AL; 2 step-sons:  Troy Satterfield of Flintville, TN, Kevin Satterfield of Grant, AL; 3 grandchildren:  Natalie Bartlow, Taylor Bartlow, Alex Satterfield; 1 sister:  Mary Ruth & George Campbell of Gurley, AL; 1 brother:  Marvin Dale & Edith Benson of Keller, TX; 4 aunts:  Mary Campbell of Fayetteville, TN; Emma Benson, Rosa Benson, Vera Benson all of Huntsville, AL; Niece:  Janet & Greg Guyette; Nephews:  Brad Benson, Dale Campbell, Boyd & Jamie Benson. Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Concord Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

 

Mr. G.T. Robinson

               Funeral services for Mr. G.T. Robinson, age 80, of S. Vann Town School Rd., Flintville, TN, who passed away Thursday, January 8, 2004 in Donalson Care Center, were conducted Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Benny Berry & Rev. Milton Martin officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Robinson was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late John Garfield Robinson & the late Claudia B. Cowan Robinson, a retired farmer and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife:  Annie Wilson Robinson, son:  Glenn & Judy Tipton Robinson; 2 granddaughters:  Renai Johnson, Jann Mitchell; 4 great grandchildren:  Kayla Mitchell Kristen Mitchell & Ethan Johnson all of Flintville, TN. Visitation was held Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Buford Counts

              Funeral services for Mr. Buford Counts, age 92, of Dry Prong Farris Creek Rd., Mulberry, TN, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 in Lynchburg Nursing Home, were conducted Sunday, January 11, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Johnny Tucker officiating. Burial followed in Lynchburg Cemetery. Mr. Counts was a native of Moore County, TN, son of the late Frances Marion Counts and the late Mary Stovall Counts, a barrell cooper for Jack Daniel Distillery, and a member of the Lois Church of Christ. Mr. Counts was preceded in death by his wife:  Wilma Tucker Counts in 1979. Survivors include 2 daughters:  Annie June Gause of Kingston Springs, TN, Bobbie Sue Blackwell of Kingston Springs, TN; 1 nephew:  Milton Smith of Tullahoma, TN; 4 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday from 10 until noon at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Louis T. Mearse

               Funeral services for Mr. Louis T. Mearse, age 66, of Walker Ford, Rd., Flintville, TN, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 in Baptist Hospital, was conducted Sunday, January 11, 2004 in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Paul Walker officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery. Mr. Mearse was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Roy Calvin Mearse & the late Lilly Mae Taylor Mearse, an electrician and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife of 47 years:  Ann Mearse of Flintville, TN; 2 daughers:  Vicky McAlister, Tammy Pamplin both of Fayetteville, TN; 1 son:  RAndy Mearse of Flintville, TN; 5 grandchildren:  Christina Mearse, Brandy Mearse, Leanna McAlister, Jenny McAlister, Andrew Pamplin; 4 sisters:  Martha Moore of New Market, AL, Effie Self of Flintville, TN, Hazel Watson of Winchester, TN, Josephine Walker of Cowan, TN; 5 brothers:  Tom Mearse of Flintville, TN, Roy Mearse of Huntsville, AL, Luke Mearse, Roer Mearse, Ricky Mearse all of Fayetteville, TN.  Mrs. Dora Holt

               Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Holt, age 71, of Walker Ford Rd., Flintville, TN, who passed away Friday, January 9, 2004 at her residence, was conducted Monday, January 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Payne officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Holt was a native of Cherokee County, AL, daughter of the late Aaron McKin & the late Bessie Liner McKin, a seamstress for Serbin & Lee Companies and a member of the Rock Church of Jesus. Survivors include her husband:  Mr. Charles Baxter Holt of Flintville, TN; 2 daughters:  Denese Honea of Flintville, TN, Tanya Holt of Fayetteville, TN; 3 sons:  Rickey Holt of Fayetteville, TN, Ronnie Holt, Britt Holt both of Flintville, TN; 2 sisters:  Minnie Brown of Fayetteville, TN, Louise Billions of New Market, AL; 4 brothers:  Aaron McKin of Elora, TN, Ernie Lee McKin, Reed McKin, Howard McKin all of Fayetteville, TN; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren & step-great grandchildren. Mrs. Mildred C. Malone

               Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred C. Malone, age 89, of Charity Ln., Hazel Green, AL, who passed away Saturday, January 10, 2004 in Huntsville, Hospital, were conducted Monday, January 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. graveside in Charity Cemetery with Dr. Warren Herring officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Malone was a native of Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late Columbus Levi Hamlin & the late Rilla Hall Hamlin, a housewife and a member of the Charity Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband:  Edward C. Malone in 1963. Survivors include 1 son:  Bill Malone, 1 daughter-In-Law:  Elaine J. Malone; 3 grandchildren:  Jeff Malone, Anna Maria West, Joseph Malone; 2 sisters:  Juanita Ables of Harms, TN, Ruby Corse of Canton, OH; 6 great grandchildren.

 

Mr. George Weir

               Funeral services for Mr. George Weir, age 76, of Wells Lee Road, Flintville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004 in Huntsville Hospital, were conducted Friday, January 16, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Burial followed in Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Weir was a native of Boaz, AL, son of the late William Hugh Weir & the late Ida Haney Weir, a retired veteran of the US Army, and a member of the Park City Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife:  Glecy Weir of Flintville, TN; 2 daughters:  Patty & Steve McPherson of Schererville, IN, Priscilla & Randal Cowart of Scottsboro, AL; 4 grandchildren:  Willie & Jennifer McPherson, Steven McPherson, Rachel McPherson, Randy & Misty Cowart; 2 sisters:  Evelyn Boschetti of Pine Bluff, AR, Nora Davis of Hernando, MS. Mrs. Bernice Rutledge

               Funeral services for Mrs. Bernice Rutledge, age 76, of Polk Street, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at her residence, were conducted Saturday, January 17, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Ramey & Bro Bert Watkins officiating. Burial followed in Booneville Cemetery. Mrs. Rutledge was a native of Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late George L. Thomas & the late Mattie Effie Shields Thomas, a housewife and a member of the North Side Church of Christ. Along with her parents, she was preceded in  death by 1 brother:  J.T. Thomas. Survivors include her husband of 60 years:  Aaron Rutledge, Jr. of Fayetteville, TN; 1 daughter:  Helen & Wilburn Groce of Fayetteville, TN; 1 son:  Tommy & Fran Rutledge of Bell Buckle, TN; 3 grandsons:  Tim Groce of Smithville, TN, Jason Groce of Fayetteville, TN, Wesley Rutledge of Bell Buckle, TN and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. John A. Sumners, Sr.

               Funeral services for Mr. John A. Sumners, Sr., age 69, of Providence Road, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Friday, January 16, 2004 in Lincoln Medical Center, were conducted Sunday, January 18, 1004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy Wright officiating. Burial followed in Old Orchard Cemetery. Mr. Sumners was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Charlie T. Sumners & Purmie Ashby Sumners, who survives, an assembly line repairman for Amana, a veteran of the US Army, a volunteer fireman for 16 years at the Lincoln County Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of Hannah's Gap Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife:  Vestia Sumners of Fayetteville, TN; 2 daughters:  Deborah Ann Gearhart of Mulberry, TN, Donna Lenore Sumners of Fayetteville, TN; 1 son:  John Ashby Sumners, Jr. of Taft, TN; 5 grandchildren:  Gary Gearhart, Alisha Gearhart, Ginger Sumners, Amanda Gearhart, Josh Sumners; 4 great grandchildren:  Dayton Sumners, Tayton Sumners, Payton White, Cheyenne White; mother:  Purmie Sumners of Fayetteville, TN; 2 sisters:  Essie Mills of Petersburg, TN, Argie Simmons of Farmington, TN; 1 brother Jimmy Wayne Sumners of Mulberry, TN. Mr. John Damron

               Funeral services for Mr. John Damron, age 76, of J.B. Scivally Road, Elora, TN, who passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004 in Lincoln Medical Center, were conducted Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Hammons. Burial followed in Miller Cemetery. Mr. Damron was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Ed Damron & the late Gracie Wilburn Damron, a maintenance man for CSX Railroad and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife:  Bonnie Damron of Elora, TN; 1 daughter:  Mattie Hardin of New Market, AL; 4 sons:  Gilbert Damron, Johnny Damron both of Mississippi, Bobby Damron of Nashville, TN, Donald Damron of Georgia; 5 sisters:  Katherine Money of Winchester, TN, Daisy Taylor, Teresa Ann Lamb both of Huntsville, AL, Flora Mae Tate of Hazel Green, AL, Mattie Lou Vandyke of Indiana; 3 brothers:  Henry Moody Damron of New Market, AL, Archie Damron of Birmingham, AL, Elbert Damron of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Mr. Lawrence Jacks

               Funeral services for Mr. Lawrence Jacks, age 78, of Elora Road, Elora, TN, who passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at his residence, were conducted Friday, January 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Gardner & Ray Jacks officiating. Burial followed in Elora Cemetery. Mr. Jacks was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Harvey Clarence Jacks & the late Vivian Virginia Payne Jacks, and retired owner/operator of Lawrence Jacks Grocery. Along with his parents, Mr. Jacks was preceded in death by 1 sister:  Lois Mills. Survivors include his wife:  Jean Jacks of Elora, TN; 1 daughter:  Tammy Denise & Mickey Bice; 1 son:  Anthony Lawrence & Tammy Jacks all of Elora, TN; 4 grandchildren:  Tory Clark, Jennifer Bice Jones, Brandon Jacks, Brad Jacks; 2 sisters:  Ruth & Buford Hines of Hazel Green, AL, Louise & Bill Bryant of Meridianville, AL; 1 brother:  Clifton & Vera Jacks of Plano, TX. Mr. Jessie Dee Randolph

               Funeral services for Mr. Jessie Dee Randolph, age 74, of Ables Road, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004 in Lincoln Medical Center, were conducted Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Riddle and Rev. Sonny Moore officiating. Burial followed in Randolph Cemetery. Mr. Randolph was a native of Madison County, AL, son of the late Timothy Randolph & the late Irene Curtis Randolph, a truck driver and a member of the Elk River Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife:  Mary Parr Randolph; 4 daughters:  Judy Brown, Hope Norris, Donna Shields, Faith Riner all of Fayetteville, TN; 1 step-daughter:  Nancy Dianne Richards of the Delina Community; 1 son:  Jimmy Randolph; 1 step-son:  Jason Bunn both of Fayetteville, TN; 1 sister:  Ann Stone of Shelbyville, TN; 1 brother:  Fred Randolph of McMinnville, TN; 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Mr. Gordon Owens

                Funeral services for Mr. Gordon Owens, age 93, of Echols Road, Elora, TN, who passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004 in Lincoln Medical Center, were conducted Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Benny Berry officiating. Burial followed in Miller Cemetery. Mr. Owens was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Harm David Owens & the late Mary Ann Bice Owens, a farmer and member of the Oakley Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his wife:  Onnie M. Owens in 2003, sons:  James Owens & Larry Owens. Survivors include 3 daughters:  Magaline Christian of New Market, AL, Kathleen Henson of Bear Creek, AL, Linda & Donnie Travis of Elora, TN; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren & 12 great-great grandchildren. Visitation was held Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Earl Pigg

                Funeral services for Mr. Earl Pigg, age 76, of Smith Mill Road, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Friday, January 23, 2004 in Lincoln Medical Center, were conducted Sunday, January 25, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Paul Walker officiating. Burial followed in McClure Cemetery. Mr. Pigg was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Lee Pigg & the late Rosie Laster Pigg, a truck driver and a member of the Emanuel Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife:  Ida Bell Pigg of Fayetteville, TN; 1 son:  Arliss Lamar Pigg of Ardmore, TN; 2 step-sons:  Harold Alverson of Lynchburg, TN, Steve Alverson of Toney, AL; 2 grandchildren:  Amanda Copley, Patrick Pigg; 1 sister:  Margaret Harmony of Fayetteville, TN, 6 step-grandchildren & 6 step-great grandchildren. Mr. William Ernest Barnett, Sr.

               Funeral services for Mr. William Ernest Barnett, Sr., age 92, of Barnett Dr., Leoma, TN, who passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004 in Country Side Health Care & Rehab, were conducted Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Moore & Rev. Billy Moore officiating. Burial followed in Flintville Cemetery. Mr. Barnett was a native of Lawrence Co., TN, son of the late Danny Effert Barnett & the late Beulah Chandler Barnett, a supply technician for Murray Inc. and a member of the Church of God. Along with his parents, Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his wife:  Ruby Gordon Barnett in 1997; 2 baby boys; 2 other sons:  Ben Marshall Barnett, Dwight Lee Barnett; 1 great granddaughter:  Tammie Vess. Survivors include 2 daughters:  Eva Pearl DiGiorgio of Birmingham, AL, Mary Hunt of Fayetteville, TN; 3 sons:  Madison Shelton Barnett, Sr. of Summertown, TN, Danny C. Barnett, William Ernest Barnett, Jr. both of Leoma, TN; 4 sisters:  Vernon Belew of Leoma, TN, Helen Willis of Kingsport, TN, Bessie Mincey of Loretto, TN, Ruby Brewer of Lawrenceburg, TN; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren & 6 great-great grandchildren. Visitation was held Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home. 

 

Mrs. Zadie Bell Caldwell

               Funeral services for Mrs. Zadie Bell Caldwell, age 81, of Old Mulberry Road, Fayetteville, TN, who passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at her residence, were conducted Friday, January 30, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Arrick officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Caldwell was a native of Lincoln County, TN, daughter of the late George Fowler & the late Cora Simmons Fowler, worked in the domestics dept. at Wal-Mart, was a member of the Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband:  Palmer Caldwell. Survivors include 1 son:  Dennis Caldwell; 2 granddaughters:  Kimberly Vaughn, Alison Caldwell; 4 great grandchildren:  Matthew Vaughn, Colton Vaughn, Clay Vaughn, Luke Vaughn; 1 sister:  Althine Spray of Greensboro, AL. Visitation was held on Thursday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home.

 

Mr. Horton Jean

                 Funeral services for Mr. Horton Jean, age 80, of Bellview Road, Taft, TN, who passed away Friday, January 30, 2004 in Huntsville Hospital, were conducted Monday, February 2, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kirkland Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Langford officiating and Gallant Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial followed in Kirkland Cemetery. Mr. Jean was a native of Lincoln County, TN, son of the late Mose Willis Jean & the late Ozemba Fultz Jean, a painter, a Deacon for many years at the Kirkland Baptist Church and served many years on the Kirkland Cemetery Committee. Along with his parents, Mr. Jean was preceded in death by 1 daughter:  Janice Jean in 1947. Survivors include his wife:  Gladys Jean of Taft, TN; 1 son:  Kenneth & Laura Beth Jean of Franklin, TN; 2 grandchildren:  Britney Nicole Jean, Cameron Elizabeth Jean; several nephews. Visitation was held Sunday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Kirkland Baptist Church.
